Petition for Digital Decolonization

We see Switzerland's digital dependence on American and Chinese IT products as a threat to Switzerland's sovereignty and independence, as well as to our personal data. Switzerland is increasingly becoming a digital colony of the US and, to a lesser extent, China.

The digital sanctioning of members of the International Criminal Court shows that the US is already using this digital power to exert coercion.

Meanwhile, lobbyists from the countries and digital corporations concerned, and their collaborators in Switzerland, are denigrating existing efforts by civil society and authorities to achieve greater digital sovereignty for Switzerland.

For this reason, we are addressing this petition to the Federal Council, the National Council and Council of States, the cantonal governments and cantonal parliaments, the city governments and city parliaments, and the municipal councils throughout Switzerland.

We demand that the aforementioned authorities:

1. Discontinue all procurement of software solutions and cloud services from American and Chinese manufacturers and make digital sovereignty a mandatory criterion for all future procurement.
2. Replace all existing software solutions and cloud services from American and Chinese manufacturers as quickly as possible.
3. In the future, focus primarily on open-source software and cloud solutions from Europe.
4. Denying lobbyists from foreign digital corporations access to parliaments, governments, and the administration.
